Onalaska Community Youth Center

"Building Today The Families Of Tomorrow"

YOUTH CENTER BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS

Your behavior inside and outside of the building will determine whether we have a Youth Center in the future.

*BEFORE YOU COME INSIDE*

ALL YOUTH MUST REGISTER: Members are required to have a completed parental consent form on file in order to participate in Youth Center Activities.

DRESS APPROPIATELY: Clothing may not have any references to drugs, alcohol, sex, violence or anything else that Teen Center staff consider inappropriate. Think it might not be appropriate? Do not wear it. You might be asked to leave.

LOITER INSIDE THE YOUTH CENTER: Please do not hang out on the front sidewalk, across the street, or in the parking lot. If you are kicked out for the night, you must leave; you cannot hangout around the Youth Center.

THE PARKING LOT: The Parking lot next to the Youth Center and the stairs leading upstairs are all private property. If you are seen there, you will be asked to leave. If you do not leave when asked, then the Youth Center staff will call the police to make sure you leave the area. (The building owners require us to do this.)

BIKES & SKATEBOARDS: Please keep your bikes outside in the bicycle rack. Riding your bike or skateboard in the Youth Center is not allowed. Skate boarding and bike riding are not allowed in the parking lot adjacent to the Youth Center.

*WHILE YOU ARE INSIDE*

  • ·          Use appropriate language: If someone, anyone, anywhere might not like it, we won’t either.

  • ·          Please bring music: Staff will determine if it’s appropriate.

  • ·          Sign up for games and computers at the check-in table in the computer room.

  • ·          Keep the Youth Center safe -- avoid rough housing.

  • ·          No Public displays of Affection: Holding hands is okay, anything else…no thanks! Remember, the community can see what goes on inside the Youth Center through the windows.

  • ·          Use your words to build people up: The Youth Center is for all teens in the community and everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Use your words to encourage people, not hurt them.

NO DRUGS, ALCOHOL, TOBACCO: Drugs, alcohol and tobacco products are not allowed in or near the Youth Center. Do not bring open cans or bottles into the Youth Center. This is a smoke-free building - No smoking is allowed near the entrance to the youth Center.

NO WEAPONS OR FIGHTING: Keep the Youth Center safe. Weapons, fighting, bullying or any aggressive behavior toward teens or staff will not be tolerated. Anyone violating this rule will be asked to leave. The police will be notified if needed.

Staff members will determine behavioral consequences based on the individual situation. Consequences may include:

  • ·          Verbal warning

  • ·          Loss of privileges

  • ·          You may be asked to leave

  • ·          Calling you parents

  • ·          Notification of police

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I, ________________________________________________, HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE EXPECTATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED TO ENSURE THAT MY TIME AT THE YOUTH CENTER IS SAFE, POSITIVE AND FUN.

I agree to respect others and myself at the Youth Center. I agree to respect the facility and the community. If I am unable to follow the behavioral guidelines, I understand that I will no longer be able to use the Youth Center.

In order to help keep the Youth Center open, I will respect my peers, the staff and myself. I understand that my behavior inside and outside the building will determine the future success of the Youth Center. I will demonstrate my respect for neighboring businesses by hanging out INSIDE the Youth Center, not across the street, on the sidewalk, or in the parking lot.

I understand that the Youth Center is a drop-in center, so I am able to come and go as long as I sign in and out each time. I understand that the staff’s main responsibility is to keep me safe and what they say goes.
